Anabeth...

When we got our chickens 3 months ago they were all supposed to be females. Three of the chickens we got are hybrids that can be sexed based on their color. The four chicken was a last minute decision and is a different breed. This chicken was supposed to be a female as well. Our older son picked this chicken to be his own "hen". Over the last couple of weeks it has become clear that "Anabeth" (named after the character in the Percy Jackson series) is not an hen. I have had to break the news to our son and prepare him that this chicken will not be able to stay at our house for much longer. He is starting to crow and picks at the other chickens. Part of our promise to our neighbors in advance of getting chickens was that there would be no roosters. I never thought we would end up with one but we have. Now, what to do with "Anthony"?
