Cheese is done!

Tonight we made our first batch of cheese. It was a bit of a process but I am sure the next batch will be much easier. Now that we know what to do and what we need it should be pretty easy to throw together a decent batch in no time. The cost of cheese in our town is unreal and milk is even higher because of state regulated milk prices. Last night we drove to a town in the state next door and bought milk for half the price of what we can get in our town. The initial expense to cheese making is in getting the supplies. Once you have the supplies you can make a pound of cheese for around $2.00 per my estimate. The kids loved making the cheese and what I sampled thus far was pretty darn good. I am going to have to experiment some more to get a more cheddar flavor but right now we have good basic farmer's cheese pressing away!
