A friend emailed me this recipe after reading I (and the entire family) have various forms of a cough. She thinks this is a funny recipe given my particular dislike for onions. My problem is not actually with onions but rather the texture they produce in food. I either need them big enough to pick out or powdered so I can't feel them LOL. I like the flavor of onion. Not in my cough syrup however! (I also REALLY don't like the flavor of honey but don't tell her that!)
Cough Syrup:
1 med. onion, sliced
1/4 c. honey
Put onion into bowl; drizzle honey over top. Cover dish and let stand overnight or 5 or 6 hours. Drain off syrup that accumulates and use 1 teaspoon each time a child coughs. (Child may not cough after smelling this.)
