Mondays are hectic in our house and we are all generally just walking in the door at dinner time. Because of this I love the ease of crockpot cooking. I simply throw the ingredients in the pot in the morning and set it on low and by 6 pm a tasty meal awaits us all. I am particularly fond of the new Reynolds crockpot liners that really make clean-up a snap. This is what the family is having tonight:
Crockpot Sloppy Joes Recipe
Ingredients
3 pounds ground beef
2 tablespoons shortening
1 cup onion, chopped
1 cup celery, diced
1 green pepper, chopped
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup catsup
3 beef bouillon cubes, crushed
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1-1/4 cups water
3 tablespoons vinegar
3 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
Instructions
Heat shortening in skillet and brown meat, discard fat. Combine all ingredients in removable crockpot liner, stirring well. Place liner in base. Cover and cook on low 6 to 8 hours; or high 3 to 4 hours; or auto 5 hours. Serve over warmed burger buns or noodles.
Yield: 10 servings
