WAHM - The Early Bird Gets the Worm

I have recently joined the world of "telecommuters" also know as WAHM (work at home mom) and WAHM (work at home dad). It is an amazing and educational journey to find legitimate WAHM opportunities. If you are willing to spend some serious time researching there are a variety of options available. It has however been eye opening to realize that the WAHM or telecommuting world is a seemingly more competitive market than the formal workplace.

I am quickly finding out that being internet savvy will get you a great deal further in the WAHM world than a pocket full of degrees. In addition to extensive knowledge of the internet, the most successful WAHM telecommuters I know are willing to take a leap of faith. They apply for WAHM jobs as soon as they see them and are fearless in the face of seemingly daunting minimum requirements stop them from applying for WAHM jobs.

Many WAHM jobs may only be posted for a limited time (hours in some cases). One WAHM job I was considering was posted in the early morning and when I went back to apply a couple hours later had been filled. The early bird gets the worm in the WAHM job market. Keep a resume on file and remember that to be a WAHM you may have to seriously revamp the resume you used in the formal workplace to highlight your potential to WAHM.
